A boy... and a girl

So we got the news, we are having another baby boy (Hershey's with nuts)expected to arrive sometime around January 14th. Cade will be 2 January 31st. Still looking for the right name.

Oh wait, before anyone thinks we are having twins, the girl part is our new miniature mule, Tinkerbell, oh so cute, but finding out she definitely has a attitude bigger than her physical self!!

click on this link to see a little video of her, she is only 3 feet tall!!

a note and a giveaway

Here's a little note I gave Kylar a week or 2 ago I made it up myself, I was gigling the whole time, he didn't think I was serious...I am!
So, to celebrate the news, I'm gonna do a little giveaway.
Tell me your name, city, state, how many kids you have, or grand kids, or nieces, nephews, or dogs. You don't need to tell me all of those, just pick one!
so for instance,
Angie Davy
Hydesville, Ca
one little boy (16 months) and one on the way
when we get close to ultrasound time, we'll do another one for girl or boy guesses.
so what will you win? Mmmmm, a honeybun, or jellyroll, or layer cake.
Drawing will be June 9th.
edit: to be clear...I am pregnant and the ultrasound will be in September. this was how i broke the news to daddy

Free time..

As much as I love this little guy.... I gotta say, I'm pretty excited dad just took him to Grandma's house.

So what to do with my free time? Quilt......

Ride one of these 3 hooligans

but, since I'm sadly out of shape, they are very sassy and my insurance deductible is outrageously high.....
I guess I better clean the house....oh so dull and boring, but it feels so good after.
Time's up and it didn't get to spit spot shape, but I did get a couple of windows washed, a load of smelly towels done, found 3 sippy cups with contents that now resembled yogurt ( but didn't smell as pleasant), got clean sheets on the bed, uncovered our kitchen table, and found .....can you identify this?????

well it used to be cute little Easter jigglers...pretty scary, huh?
So though I am sad that I had to postpone my trip to Hawaii (I should have stepped off the plane today for a 2 week vacation), and that the Jon & Kate plus 8 rumors appear to be true( that makes me sooo sad!!!) , I know that the health department won't yellow tape my house and that when I see the little baaoooh, he'll have a big kiss for me, and who can resist that?

For Mother's Day I took 20 Swanky fat quarters, my Sparkling Cider pattern and headed over to Scottie Dog Quilt Shop. Uninterrupted sewing from 11am-8pm. Ohhh it was was so nice and when I got home Kylar had Cade in bed and dinner ready!! Tried to get some pictures this morning, I had a lot of help from the wind and Cade.
I'm teaching this quilt at Scottie Dog Quilt Shop July 10th and September 26th, so I wanted to make a new sample for it.
Look close at this picture, you'll see Cade is now shoe broke, thanks to dad.
that's the outline of dad after help from Cade. You can see there's been a lot of painting, building and rototilling from the background. You'll also see we have one more ugly aluminum framed window to replace. We're doing this one last because nobody sees the back of the house...guess I picked the wrong place to take my pictures!!
here's a kiss from Cade!!

Geez....where'd the time go?

Liked his eggs...
Loved his candy (he gets that from me)

Happy very late Easter!!!

"grass broke" and slides

Baby Cade has not enjoyed being on grass. Wouldn't walk on it, wouldn't sit on it, wouldn't touch it. Finally..... progress. His face still looks a little unsure, but this is a huge step. Before he would crumple up in a ball and cry! Look here, he might even be enjoying it! Looks like we can put the Easter eggs in the grass after all!
Now slides, they were instant love. Not sure which of us is having more fun (notice the huge gaping hole, aka my mouth).

Now I gotta work on getting him "shoe broke"!

some old and some new.....

Here's some of what I have been working on. These are some of my customers quilts, none of these are pieced by me. This is Nancy's cute little applique with a water/meander allover quilting design. Cute quilt! This is our Just Can't Cut It pattern. A high school senior made this. John Deere in pink. In progress...
Finished and ready to ship back to Colorado. Good job Lacey!
This is Linda's quilt. It is for her daughter. From the Quiltmakers book. Linda makes very pretty quilts.
This is Liz's quilt. Queen size and these are little flying geese. It is quilted with a meander in the center and a separate border. Keeps the cost down and looks custom.
This was made by Sally C. for a local dinner and auction fundraiser. Our little rural community raised $65,000 for a little 4 year old boy with cancer. WOW! People are so generous.
This was pieced by Sally F. This is a printed border. Isn't it cute?
This was designed and pieced by Sally Frey. She does 3 retreats a year in our beautiful Northern California area. If you need a reason to come see our beautiful redwoods and ocean, get on her mailing list to be notified of her next retreat. FGertie{at}aol{dot}com.
Here's a shot of the full quilt.
This is a pretty little applique done by Claire.
This was a block of the month. I think this one is Jan's??? Hope you enjoyed the show and tell. Maybe it'll give you some inspiration. Enjoy.

I'm loving Spring!!!

Everyone is ready for Spring, right? I keep hounding the local nurseries to see if they have my favorite flowers in yet. I was out till dark last night and tonight I was out after dark with my headlight attached to my baseball hat taking advantage of the time when Cade is sleeping. I got the flowers below planted, I still have 8 wine barrels, 40 wave petunias, and 20 Astilbe's to go!!!Today, I got a little package in the mail from our Veterinarian. It's a little stone in memory of my special friend (Fattie, my kittie) who died from kidney failure last month. So after crying for a few minutes, I put it out with the new flowers that I just planted. She loved to be outside.
This is Fattie on the left, and Chicken S@#! on the right. I think I better explain the names. I got both of these cats from the local rescue about 8 years ago. After several trips to the vet, I had no names for them except cat A & B. I pulled these names out of my demented sense of humor. Fattie really "blossomed" after I got her, and Chicken was scared of everything!! So I thought these names fit and they stuck, Fattie and Chicken for short, I didn't want to offend anybody and I didn't really want my nephews to know her full name. Anyway, I really loved her personality. Animals are definitely a blessing, and she is missed.

How 'bout a little giveaway?

Have any of you ever heard of Moda? Hee Hee Hee!!! Of course, who hasn't?

Well, we have designed a cute little pattern called Petits Fours that you can get for free over at the Moda Bake Shop.
So here is our cute little tablerunner that we designed using just 1 charm pack!! How fun is that? This is the picture that I took out in the frost in my flip flops, cold toes.

(I tried feeding my horses last night in flip flops too. Slipped and fell right in the messy, smelly mud. I mean FULL fall in the mud. I ended up throwing all my clothes in the washer and me in the shower!! Sorry, no pictures!)
So here's the giveaway.

Hop on over to the bakeshop, leave a comment under our Petits Fours tablerunner, then skip back here and leave us a comment for a chance to win a kit to make this tablerunner. Simple!!!!

We will draw the winner on Monday. Thanks for checking it out!
